Mike VanDenHeuvel

Mike is a problem solver.

As an experienced policy and communications professional, Mike VanDenHeuvel understands the potential of projects big or small to advance an advocacy agenda. Having worked in communications, legislative politics, and health advocacy, he understands how effective, targeted strategies that marry multiple approaches propel policy goals.

Mike joined McCabe in 2020 after working at the advocacy affiliate of the American Cancer Society, where he engaged national health reporters on issues including tobacco control, cancer screening and prevention, and pediatric cancers. He also played an influential role in a global campaign focused on ending death from cervical cancer in low- and middle-income countries. Earlier in his career he worked in state politics, aiding lawmakers in everything from constituent relations to policy development.

Mike earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science and Spanish from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Outside of work Mike enjoys traveling, downhill skiing, and checking out the local food scene.
